Police Services

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police is the Canadian national police service and an agency of the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada. The RCMP is unique in the world since it is a national, federal, provincial and municipal policing body. They provide a total federal policing service to all Canadians and policing services under contract to the three territories, eight provinces (except Ontario and Quebec), approximately 198 municipalities and, under 172 individual agreements, to 192 First Nations communities.

Policing in the District of Stewart

The District of Stewart contracts the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to provide police services through the Stewart RCMP detachment.

The detachment responds to many emergency situations, along with routine calls for service, and provides crime prevention programs with support from our many volunteers. The police officers and staff are dedicated to working with the District, community groups, businesses and individuals to ensure that residents of District of Stewart enjoy safe homes and safe communities.

Lately the District of Stewart has issued few times a boil water advisory.  It's strictly a precautionary measure due power outage. Without power  water pressure at our pump declined below established level. A loss in pressure can result in contamination entering the drinking water distribution system from surrounding soil and groundwater (to read more click heading)
