Goals & Objectives

Successful towns develop a vision of how they want to look in the future. They determine community priorities. They align decisions and actions with supported and shared goals. And they adhere to a strategic plan that clearly defines the goals and objectives that will lead to the vision.

A new vision for Stewart    


                        
Much has changed in the world and much has been achieved in the District of Stewart since development of our first Strategic Plan.

Adopted January 26, 2015, the District of Stewart’s new Goals & Objectives outline the community’s vision for the future and will guide the District’s policy, operations and financial decisions through to 2020 as we work to achieve that vision.

Our District’s energetic and resourceful staff, governed by a dedicated Council, will bring our Vision to life.

November is Adoption Awareness Month

At the November 13, 2018 Regular Council meeting, Council made a motion to join the Province in proclaiming November as Adoption Awareness Month.

Water Quality Advisory

There have been reports from residents (Nov 14 2018) experiencing brown or discoloured water in the community.  If your household is experiencing this issue, please allow your cold water tap to run until the water clears.  Additionally, please see the attached Water Quality Advisory notice (still in effect) with information and recommendations.  

Call for Nominations:  Board of Variance

The District of Stewart is looking for interested people to sit on its Board of Variance.  This board is appointed by Council for a term of 3 years.  The board meets only when needed and fulfils the duties as per Bylaw #881, 2014 and according to the Local Government Act, Sec. 899.  Please see the attached notice for more information.

2018 Christmas Card Competition-DEADLINE EXTENDED

For those that were hoping to submit an entry, GOOD NEWS - the deadline has been extended until Monday, November 19 at 4:30pm. So, all of you local artists and photographers still have time to participate by submitting your original artwork or photograph to the District office.
