Bear Festival
The Stewart Bear Arts Festival is held the second weekend of August.
The Mission statement of the Bear Arts Festival is to increase awareness through the education about bears and their habitat.
The festival brings together local artists, photographers, and musicians in celebration of these beautiful animals. Art in the park showcases carvings, paintings, jewelry, photographs and artisan. Other events include a nature hike, lecture on bears, 5KM walk/run, BBQ, pancake breakfast, children's games, and refreshment gardens. Local activities include: visiting our local museum, a self guided auto tour to the Salmon Glacier and watching the bears at Fish Creek in Hyder, Alaska.
The photo contest is a must see! Professional and Novice photographers enter the event by providing their bear/wildlife photographs. Judges determine the winning photographs. These photographs show a variety of bears/wildlife in different formats and will be on display.
