Household Hazardous Waste

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

Products that contain ingredients that are corrosive, toxic, ignitable, or reactive are considered "household hazardous waste" and should be disposed of properly.  Paints, pesticides, propane tanks, batteries, syringes, used motor oil and many cleaning products are just some examples of household hazardous wastes that are used daily by residents. These items contain toxic ingredients and should be used and disposed of with caution. Do not place out for regular garbage pick-up. Please do not pour motor oil, paints or solvents down your drain or into sewers.

Improper disposal, such as throwing household hazardous waste down the drain, on the ground, in the trash or in to storm drains, can be very dangerous.  These products, if disposed of improperly, pollute the environment and can pose a threat to human health.
