Granduc Road Advisory: Travel at your own risk

Granduc Road Advisory: Travel at your own risk
JUL 6, 2023

All Granduc Road users should be advised that heavy trucks may be encountered on the Granduc Road from Hyder, Alaska to kilometre 22. There are also heavy construction activities taking place adjacent to the Granduc Road, specifically between kilometres 15 and 22.  These construction activities are supporting upgrades at the Premier Mine.

During this time there are a lot of large heavy trucks and equipment driving on the road or crossing the road.  Please drive slowly and cautiously through these work zones, do not stop or overtake vehicles and follow all posted signage. Construction will be continuing through the Fall of 2023.

The District of Stewart highly recommends opting to take the bus tour that is offered instead of driving your personal vehicle. This will prevent wear and tear on your vehicle and decrease the amount of traffic on the road. To book a spot on the bus tour to the Salmon Glacier, please contact Gord McMillan of Whitecap to Icecap Adventures at (778) 794-9929 or wtcap2iccap@icloud.com
