Mayor's Update: Ambulance Service Coverage in Stewart

Mayor's Update: Ambulance Service Coverage in Stewart
JUL 4, 2025

Dear Residents,

I wanted to provide an important update regarding ambulance service coverage in Stewart. I have just received information from BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) and would like to share the latest developments with you.
Unfortunately, there will continue to be no paramedic coverage this weekend. This remains completely unacceptable, and I understand how concerning this is for our community.  That being said, we are extremely grateful to the paramedics who have stepped up on short notice to take postings in Stewart starting next week.
Beginning Monday morning, travelling paramedics will be in the community, providing coverage and support to our region. The only exception at this time is Saturday, July 27, but BCEHS is actively working to secure coverage for that date as well.
BCEHS has also committed to providing timely updates in the future if our community is ever without paramedic coverage. This improved communication will help ensure that our health professionals, other emergency responders and residents are better informed and able to respond appropriately during service gaps.
In addition, BCEHS is actively recruiting for additional paramedic positions in Stewart, and we remain hopeful that permanent staffing solutions will be found soon to support our committed local paramedics ensuring reliable and consistent emergency services for our community.
Thank you for your ongoing patience and support as we work together to overcome these challenges.
I am committed to keep pushing for the level of service Stewart needs and deserves.

Sincerely,
Angela Brand Danuser
Mayor of Stewart
